Read MoreThe learnings generated by our ancestors and our own appreciation for what matters in the modern cocoa value chain have allowed us to distil the promise the Samoa cocoa industry holds into four high level opportunities, centring around the plants themselves, the post-harvest management cocoa requires, the economic and Good Agricultural Practices principles applicable to both commodity trading and value product marketing, and the knowledge needed to pull it all together. The opportunities were initially identified as part of the Samoa Cocoa Industry Development Initiative’s consultation process in 2016 and 2017, with the help of the New Zealand Foreign Affairs & Trade Aid Programme.
